Via Transilvanica – the road that unites is a hiking trail that can be walked on foot, by bicycle or by horse, from Drobeta-Turnu Severin to Putna. From our experience, the route can be traveled either for several weeks in full length, or partially in a few days, depending on the traveler’s strength and desire. Via Transilvanica’s infrastructure will provide information regarding accommodation and meals, as well as historical and cultural information about different geographical areas.

The road will be marked with specific identification elements, made of sustainable materials which will allow the traveler to navigate along the way. We will seek to represent the most accurate information about the difficulty of the route.

The route set up by Via Transilvanica is divided into 7 parts:

  1. The Cerna trail runs spectacular scenery, from the Danube River to the Cerna Mountains, passing through Domogled National Park, one of the most spectacular in the country. The length of the route is approximately 191 km.
  2. The name we have chosen, Terra Daco Romana, describes the land where the history of teh Dacians and Romans happened. Comprised between Orastie and Ulpia Traiana Sarmisegetusa, the route is about 98 kilometers.
  3. Mures Valley is a place full of history and deeds of bravery. The proposed route covers the Blaj - Orastie area, passing through Alba Iulia, the place of the Great Romanian Union. It's a route about 122 kilometers.
  4. With a length of 125 km, Terra Saxonia is the part of the route that crosses the area once inhabited by Saxons. Saxon customs and traditions must be known in order to better understand the influence they had on the whole region of Transylivania.
  5. Terra Siculorum is the fifth route of Via Transilvanica. The 88 km of the route cross here territories inhabited by proud Szeklers, who contributed to everything that is Transylvania today.
  6. The Calimani region is the longest of the seven regions, with a length of 142 km. Via Transilvanica passes through the mountains and shows that the harshness of the area has taught people to adapt to nature and times.
  7. In the north of the country, Bucovina is a bridge between Transylvania and Moldova. We will discover along the 133 km route, picturesque areas and monuments of unique history in the world.

On July 21, 2018, Tăşuleasa Social put the first two kilometric tracks on Via Transilvanica, one kilometer from Bistriţa-Năsăud County. For convenience, UTILBEN has provided a SUNWARD SWE25B compact excavator. With the help of the machine, the places where the mileage terminals will be located will be exploded.

Terminals will be mounted from kilometer to kilometer. Being a public road, it can be traveled by lovers of hiking, nature, sports, willing to pass through it in whole or in part. The road is to be marked with specific identification elements, from durable materials, which allow the traveler to navigate along the way. More details about the project on viatransilvanica.com.
